@Ramji What best I would suggest you is that if u are placed and u hv time to invest, prepare and appear for GMAT and get a score of 700+. Since the score is valid for 5 years it would help you because I did this mistake of not preparing at my college time and now in the working environment, its really hard for me to find time to study!!

Hello! @Ramji I am a Mechanical Engineer aspiring to do an MBA from abroad. What the industry scenario is that for getting thru a class business school you have to have minimum 3 years of quality work exp And mind you this is the least required criteria which u need to fulfill. Other wise MBA from abroad is not a viable investment frankly speaking.

I have taken my GMAT and scored 280, which is below the required average of 500 score for most Universities. I have a GPA of 2.5 from my undergrad and 2 years of work experience in Advertising.
Do I stand a chance in pursuing an MBA in a good University?

I think it is a positive change considering the changing environment and is in line with the change in the structure of the GMAT test.
Regarding the point about schools receiving the ‘tailor made to the school’ essay, I do no think that the change will help in solving this problem as there will be new blogs and videos mushrooming all over the web in a few years and the problem of ‘similar looking/sounding applications’ will persist. But the new admission process will definitely help the schools in better evaluating prospective students.

Very true I do agree. But Mr.Merchant why can’t the schools take more such candidates at the entry stage itself. Obsession on CAT and GMAT is not wholly desirable. I feel that as an institution you can take a lead by taking in at least 2 candidates of that mind set. I have been an evaluator myself and I am of the opinion that we could track them on a perusal of the application itself more of your B school which brief and quite searching.

Highly motivating article. Article speaks about true leaders, Management education converts people who only blame the system into those who actully contibute to the system . Getting good grade and good placement is only a platform for us. After getting that platform it is challange to justify the opportunity given to us.

I agree to the point of being sustainable. But the “social responsibility” is just not the right thing. If Darwin’s theory and simple statistics are applied to the capability metric of the society, then a society which aspires to grow by eliminating the components which are weighing down the average can only sustain. An unpurposeful and lethargic society, if made a burden to be borne by intellectuals and doers will fail in the end. It is like killing the hen, which lays golden eggs. Blind Sociophilia will doom the human race. Money spent on society has to be earned by someone.

Why should a person toiling the whole day to earn bread for his family give a single dime to a beggar?

Thanks for sharing a brief and vivid picture of what truly management education means . I sincerely empathize with your sentiments on sustainability and social responsibility but what we see in today global world is that people are lured by management education as a short step for success by landing into high paying jobs after completing education from Ivy leagues or IIM’s per say. Actually professors,alumni and industry stalwarts should come forward in advertising the true aspect of management education to enlighten the young minds to give a holistic understanding of education in our lives whether it be management,science,social science,humanities etc.

Placement offers should not be seen as the only benchmark to decide the credibility of any institute ,others factors also should be highlighted while reviewing any institute for higher studies.

I wish to apply as a part- time student in your organisations. Presently i am a british national heel from Lagos, Nigeria. I was born 10th of April, 1962. And where i obtained my ordinary national diplomal in agricultural science which i used to work with ocean fisheries for so many years in nigeria before i set-up my own business. Though, i have been with so many companies with difference exprience. I am a man of integrity that plan ahead of my future. In short i came to this country, U.K, 24th of november, 2007 where i obtained my (SIA) Licence and all things that requires of me which i’m now using at the moment. Presently, i am one of the G4s secure solution personnel known as event team. But due to inbalance situations at the moment i just decided to upgrade my knowledge and the skills.
